Debut Winner for Star Witness

Opening his account with a dominant debut win as favourite at Ballarat on Sunday was Star Witness three year-old Tell the Judge, a $40,000 Inglis Easter Session II purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Torryburn Stud draft.

The Robert Smerdon trained colt had been well educated at the trials and did everything right for Mark Zahra to track the speed before accelerating away to win the 1100 metre maiden by a length and three-quarters.

Tell the Judge as a yearlingBred and offered for sale by Torryburn, Tell the Judge is the third winner for smart winning O'Reilly mare Tell Someone, a half-sister to stakes-winner Legsman and to the dam of Group I winner Brambles.

Tell Someone has a yearling colt by Denman and is in foal to Uncle Mo (USA), the sire of Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.

Tell the Judge is another smart winner for Star Witness, who is the leading Australian Second Season Sire by winners.

The dual Group I winner stands at Widden Stud this spring at a fee of $16,500.
