A six time stakes winning eight-year-old has been retired.
Popular sprinter Rain Affair was the winner of 12 of his 40 starts with career earnings totalling more than $1.5 million.
The gelding's trainer Daniel Bowman announced the son of Commands retirement on Twitter.
"Would like to officially announce the retirement of Rain Affair," Bowman tweeted.
"Retires sound & happy horse just lost desire for racing. Been a privilege."
Bowman took over the training of Rain Affair this season after the veteran galloper lost form, which he never recaptured.
Formerly trained in Sydney by Joe Pride, Rain Affair won 10 of his first 11 starts including victories in the Group II Expressway and Apollo Stakes, the Group III Missile Stakes and Listed Carrington Stakes.
His first unplaced effort came in the 2012 Newmarket Handicap when Rain Affair was beaten 2-1/2 lengths into sixth behind five Group I winners Hay List, Buffering, Foxwedge, Phelan Ready and Woorim.
The then four-year-old returned to Sydney where he claimed the Group II Challenge Stakes before second placings behind Master Of Design in the Group I TJ Smith Stakes, Atlantic Jewel in the All Aged Stakes and Your Song in the BTC Cup.
After his four-year-old season, Rain Affair only won once, when resuming in the spring of 2013 and taking out a second Missile Stakes.
"He was an amazing horse when he was in his prime," Pride said. "He was one of those rare horses that was a genuine Group I horse but unfortunately never won one. A bit like Catkins.
"He was a great horse."
