By
champion sire Redoute's Choice from dual Group I winner Eskimo Queen, royally
bred filly Blowing Kisses opened her career with a debut victory at Canterbury
on Wednesday.
Retained to race by her breeder and given to John Thompson to train, Blowing Kisses has been
given plenty of time, but two recent barrier trial wins indicated above average
ability which played out on race day.
She led throughout for Tye Angland and although tiring late had enough left to
hold off the fast finish of I Am Invincible filly Invincibella to win the 1100
metre maiden by a nose.
"She had to do a little bit of work early and got a bit tired late,"
Thompson said.
"There's plenty of improvement in her. She's not really wound-up and she's
done it all on natural ability so far."
Foaled and raised at Kitchwin Hills, Blowing Kisses is the third winner for
former star racemare Eskimo Queen, who won both the Queensland Oaks and STC
Coolmore Classic.
She was entered for the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale but has
been withdrawn and was covered by Wandjina last spring.
