Foxwedge
added another smart winner to his tally with a debut victory for promising
gelding Mulder at Gawler on Wednesday.
Trained by Michael Hickmott, Mulder forged clear to win the 1111 metre maiden
by half a length, despite not being comfortable in the slow conditions.
Bred by Bowness Stud, Mulder is the second foal of Isn't She Fabulous, a
half-sister by Fusaichi Pegasus to Group I winner Pear Tart.
He is the sixth winner (four in Australia, two in New Zealand) from the first
Southern Hemisphere bred crop of foals by Foxwedge, who also has two winners in
the Northern Hemisphere including highly impressive Belmont winner Star Empire
in the US.
A Group I winning son of Fastnet Rock, Foxwedge stands at Newgate Farm at a fee
of $22,000 this spring.
