FBAA members have outlaid $1,72 million for 24 lots on behalf of clients at the
Magic Millions National Foal Sale, a massive 65% increase on
their total expenditure at the Gold Coast last year.
Sheamus Mills ($1.13 million) and Brett Howard ($419,500) both appeared in the
Top 10 leader-board for buyers.
Mills paid $250,000 each for a filly by Snitzel from Holbrook Stud and a colt
by I Am Invincible from Bell River Thoroughbreds. The Melbourne-based
agent has been successful with Snitzel in the past and his latest buy is from
USA stakes winner Easy Tee.
"I sold a Snitzel here in January for good money and this filly is a better
sort with a similar pedigree," Mills claimed. "The Snitzels more than
hold their value and hopefully so does this one heading into the yearling
sales."
Howard (Randwick Bloodstock) started the Foal Sale with $110,000 for Lot 1, a
Sebring – Ma Famille colt from the family of Danehill. He was active
throughout the two sessions buying colts by The Factor ($80,000), Spirit of
Boom ($55,000) & Eurozone ($52,500) and fillies by I Am Invincible
($55,000) and Charge Forward ($50,000).
Peter Ford bought a Lope de Vega colt for $40,000 from Woodside Park a day
after he cheered home Mighty Lucky at Doomben. Ford bought the G3 Lord
Mayor's Cup winner's dam Buxom Babe (Octagonal) for $100,000 at last year's
Magic Millions Broodmare Sale. She subsequently foaled a colt by I Am
Invincible and was then covered by Wandjina.
