Star
Witness had an impressive two year-old winner in South Africa on Tuesday when
Lord Balmoral strolled in for a four length maiden win at his second start.
Having made a promising debut on May 16 at Kenilworth when second, Lord
Balmoral started favourite and was never in any serious danger when taking
control of the speed soon after jumping to lead all the way in a promising
effort.
Offered by Yarraman Park at the 2015 Inglis Classic Summer Book, Lord
Balmoral was knocked down to Balmoral Stud / Heritage Bloodstock for $53,000.
He becomes the fourth winner from four to race for Balmoral Belle, a
half-sister by Zabeel to former smart stayer Scouting Wide (Christmas Cup L., 2ndBrisbane Cup Gr.2) and hails from a family not lacking in quality middle distance
performers.
Star Witness currently leads the Second Season Sires list by winners and is
standing the 2016 season at Widden Stud with a reduced fee of $16,500.
