After beating just two of the 17 runners home at his most recent start in the Wayne Wilson Mile won by Hopfgarten at Eagle Farm a fortnight back, the Brian Smith-trained Feltre bounced back to form to capture Saturday's Listed AM Giles and Co Accountants Handicap.
The form improvement was expected by a few punters in the know who backed the son of Show a Heart from $17 into $10.
Ridden by Paul Hammersley, Feltre came with a strong finish to defeat
Smith had also entered Feltre for the Group Three Tattersall's Cup on Saturday but chose the lesser option.
"Feltre had been working well but I decided he was better suited at the 1800 metres at the moment," Smith told AAP.
"I have no doubt he will get further as this campaign goes on.
Passed in short of his $50,000 reserve at the 2012 Magic Millions QTIS Yearling sale, Feltre (pictured top as a yearling) advances his overall record to 7 wins, 5 seconds and 2 thirds from 24 starts for earnings of $441,733.
Bearing a striking resemblance to his sire, the 5yo gelding becomes the 23rd stakes-winner for Glenlogan Park Stud stalwart Show a Heart.
A homebred for the Andrews family, Feltre is the first live foal of the twice winning Testa Rossa mare Chick Gold who has a 2yo gelding by Bradbury's Luck named Le Matin and a weanling colt by Lope de Vega (IRE).
Chick Gold was bred back to Show A Heart last spring.
Four-time Group 1 winner Show a Heart lines up for his 15th season at Glenlogan Park this spring at a fee of $12,100.
