Cataldo Purchase Wins Horseshoe

Media Release - Saturday July 9
Central districts bloodstock agent Phill Cataldo has struck again in a Singapore Group Two feature.

Lin's Racer - Singapore Turf ClubHis eye for young thoroughbred talent was further emphasised by the victory on Friday evening at Kranji of Lim's Racer in the Golden Horseshoe over 1200 metres.

Cataldo purchased the two-year-old daughter of Red Giant out of the Tuhikaramea stable of Graeme and Debbie Rogerson following a trial win.

Then known as Stonedance, the filly beat the subsequent Group One placegetter Saracino in an 800 metre heat at Cambridge in the spring.

Bred by Gerry Harvey's Westbury Stud, Lim's Racer is now trained by Stephen Burridge and she had been unplaced on debut, but showed her true worth with a neck defeat of the former Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained juvenile Caorunn.

"I thought the other horse had her, she was headed twice, but she fought back like a real bulldog," Burridge said.

"We always knew she had talent, but she was really disappointing at her first run. She actually pulled a muscle and had some tying up. She will enjoy the paddock for now."

Lim's Racer was ridden by Australian jockey Danny Beasley, who was far from surprised with her performance.

"She came here with a strong New Zealand form and she will keep improving from that run," he said.
"I actually told Steve from the first time I sat on her in a trial around five weeks ago that, gee whiz, he had a quality filly there."

Another Cataldo purchase Kiwi Karma won the Golden Horseshoe two years ago and she has since added a further five victories to her record while the Te Horo-based agent also enjoyed success on Friday evening with the Alvin Tan-trained Infantry.

The Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan-bred son of Tavistock, who has now won four of his 10 starts in Singapore, was bought by Cataldo out of Darryl Lang's Cambridge stable after a trial placing. – NZ Racing Desk.
