First Stakes-Winner for Sepoy

Golden Slipper winner Sepoy hasn't been able to crack it for an Australian stakes-winner this season, but he did post his very first stakes-winner in France overnight with an impressive win for Baileys Showgirl in the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Chantilly.

SepoyTrained by Mark Johnston, she was an impressive winner at her second start at Hamilton back in June and carried that good form into this tougher seven furlong assignment.

Baileys Showgirl ran away from the favourite Red Onion to win by two lengths.

Offered by her breeder Ecurie Des Monceaux at last year's Arqana October Yearlings Sale, Baileys Showgirl was purchased by Johnston for €22,000.

She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Tribune from stakes-placed War Chant mare Tanguista.

Her sire Sepoy has had a fee reduction here in Australia and will stand at Darley for $33,000, down from $66,000 in his first four seasons.
