Black Type Boosts for NZB Winter

Media Release - Tuesday July 26

A number of recent stakes results have provided significant pedigree updates for the NZB Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale  which will be held this Friday 29 July at Karaka.

Most significantly, relatives of two horses catalogued for the upcoming Sale have recently performed at the highest level.

Lot 14, the broodmare Testella (Testa Rossa), is from the same family as Smart Call(Ideal World) who won the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Kenilworth. Another family member is a recent Group 3 placegetter.

Franny (Selkirk), a broodmare in foal to Dalghar, is catalogued at Lot 38 and is closely related to Harlequeen (Canford Cliffs) who last weekend ran third in the prestigious Group 1 Irish Oaks.

There have been numerous other recent black-type boosts to the catalogue.

Lot 4, the broodmare Rio Delmar (NZ) (Captain Rio) who is in foal to Giant's Steps, is from the same family as Takedown(Stratum) who recently won the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas. Another relative Picadilly Circus (Not For Sale) placed in the Group 3 Palermo Clasico Ines Victorica Roca.

Shantaine (NZ) (Pins), catalogued at Lot 8, is from the same family as Ovidio (Danehill Dancer) who won the Group 2 Kenilworth JandB Urban Honey Stayers' Handicap.

Megan's Tough Love (Rahy), in foal to Sacred Falls and catalogued at Lot 49, has had a flurry of pedigree updates. She is from the same family as Arezzo(Rock Hard Ten), who recently won the Group 2 Monterrico Clasico OSAF, as well as Dimension(Medicean) who won the Group 2 King Edward Stakes at Woodbine, and Waneta (Mountain Cat) who won the Listed Istanbul Sadun EG Atig. Another family member also recently placed at stakes level.

Lot 13, Sunset Stripper (Volksraad), is from the same family as two recent stakes performers. Tip Tap Tapizar (Tapizar) ran third in the Group 3 Churchill Downs Bashford Manor Stakes, and Frankuus(Frankel) placed in last weekend's Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot.

Lot 31, 34, 37 and 73 are all also related to recent stakes placegetters.

There are 76 lots featured in the main catalogue plus an additional seven supplementary entries.

Selling will commence at midday after the annual Karaka Stallion Parade which will showcase eight sires this year, presenting a great opportunity for breeders to come to Karaka and compare a range of stallions as the new breeding season approaches.

Buyers are encouraged to complete a Buyer Registration form online to ensure their buyer registration sticker is ready and waiting for them when they arrive. Or, if they wish to appoint an agent to purchase on their behalf at the Sale, they can now complete the necessary Appointment of Agent form online.
