Nervous 98

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 29
With nine winners in the past seven days, this stallion has hit 98 winners for the season putting him within a whisker of his first century of winners with three days of the season to go.

NicconiThe quiet achiever on the Widden Stud roster, Nicconi stands at a fee of $11,000, but with a 60% winner to runner seasonal strike rate, he has become the punter's best friend.

A dual Group I winning son of blue-blooded Danzig stallion Bianconi (USA), Nicconi's progeny have proven fast and versatile.

His four stakes-winners this season being Faatinah (3g Group II SAJC Euclase Stakes (1200m), Concealer (2f Group III VRC Emirates Airline Plate (1000m), Ayers Rock (3g Listed VRC UCI Stakes (1800m) and Exclusive Lass (4m Listed Geelong Rosemont Stud Stakes (1400m).

Nicconi has had seven two year-old winners this season, but as we have seen in the past with this stallion, his progeny are always better at three.

Nicconi has had 48 three year-old winners putting him right up amongst the best sires in the country in this category running equal third with Lonhro and Snitzel behind only Not a Single Doubt and Sebring

Leading Three Year Old Sires by Winners

Nicconi has settled into a very comfortable niche as a well proven source of winners and with his biggest crop of foals (126) set to race as two year-olds in the new season, the future is bright.

Widden Stud's stalwart sire Stratum is also on 98 winners as he chases his fifth consecutive century of seasonal winners.
