Sebring Filly a BOBS Star

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 30
Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds have been in hot form coming to the end of the season and one of their star performers has been three year-old Sebring filly Pioneering who soared to the top of the most successful BOBS earners this season when saluting at Rosehill on Saturday.

A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm, the Chris Waller trained filly made it three consecutive Saturday wins in a row when scoring over 1400 metres by a short neck with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.

PioneeringWith five wins and seven placings from 16 starts, Pioneering (image Steve Hart)  has nearly $330,000 in prizemoney for her big team of Star owners.

With $70,000 of her prizemoney coming from BOBS bonuses, Pioneering is the equal highest earning BOBS horse of the season along with another Chris Waller trained Sebring three year-old in Sir Bacchus.

A filly with a big international pedigree, Pioneering is the second winner for Soothe (USA), a half-sister to US Group II winner Conserve and grand-daughter of celebrated matriarch Fanfreluche, the ancestress of champion sires Flying Spur and Encosta de Lago.

Her sire Sebring has had a great season producing the winners of over $8 million in prizemoney including seven stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Criterion, who retires to Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $35,750.

He is the second son of Sebring to retire to Newgate, joining Australian Horse of the Year Dissident, whose first foals will be born this spring.

Dissident is priced at $33,000 this year, while Sebring is at $77,000.
