Five prestigious awards were handed out at the National Breeding Awards Presentation held in conjunction with Darley's annual stallion parade on Saturday, August 20. The new-look event, hosted by Thoroughbred Breeders Australia (TBA), was compered by popular industry personality Caroline Searcy.

Street CrySecuring the Champion Australian Sire award was Darley's ill-fated Street Cry (IRE) who sadly passed away in 2014. In claiming the title, Street Cry established a new Australian record for progeny earnings in a season, amassing over $12 million dollars in prize money.

Street Cry recorded 12 individual stakes winners for the season, highlighted by superstar mare Winx (AUS) and Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me (AUS). The award was presented by TBA President Basil Nolan to Darley's Barley Ward-Thomas who was delighted with the result.

Responsible for siring the outstanding juvenile galloper Capitalist, Woodside Park Stud's Written Tycoon (AUS) won the Champion Sire of 2YOs for the first time. TBA and Aushorse Chief Executive Tom Reilly presented the award to Woodside Park's Mark Rowsthorn.

Producing three individual two-year old stakes winners for the 2015-16 season and with two-year-old progeny earnings of over $4 million, this is the second championship title for Written Tycoon who was also crowned Champion First Season Sire back in 2010-2011.

Champion Australian First Season Sire was awarded to Arrowfield Stud's Smart Missile (AUS), with TBA Director Ken Barry presenting the award to Monica Barrera-Cummings and Gooree Park Stud Manager Andrew Baddock.

Smart Missile was bred by Monica's family on their famous property Gooree Park Stud, so it was only fitting that she accepted the award on behalf of Arrowfield.
