Scat Daddy Speed Triumphs Again in Morny

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 22
Those in attendance at the Coolmore stallion parade on Sunday will not be at all surprised that the Group I Prix Morny at Deauville in France was won overnight by brilliant filly Lady Aurelia, whose sire Scat Daddy has his first sire son in Australia this spring in No Nay Never (USA).

A homebred for Stonestreet Stables prepared in the US by Wesley Ward, Lady Aurelia kept her unbeaten record intact when taking the six furlong feature by three quarters of a length.

Lady Aurelia won on debut at Keeneland in the US back in April, then won the Group II Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot so has had a busy and fruitful year, highlighting her tough constitution as well as her prodigious talent.

No Nay NeverLady Aurelia is the 20th Group I winner for Scat Daddy, who was just 11 years old when he died at the end of last year in the US.

He has been ion hot form this year with superstar 2YO colt Caravaggio and also enjoyed a Group I double on the weekend with his 3YO daughter, Harmonize, winning the Group I Del Mar Oaks in the US.

Lady Aurelia emulated the success of the Wesley Ward trained colt No Nay Never, who won the Prix Morny in 2013 and is standing at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $11,000.

No Nay Never impressed breeders at the parades on Sunday with his sleek sprinter's physique and for those breeders looking for a Danzig free alternative with precocious speed, No Nay Never is well worth consideration.
