One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 23
Spendthrift Farm have bought some lovely Australian yearlings in recent years including this Northern Meteor colt who opened his account with an explosive debut win at Pakenham on Tuesday.

Prepared by Hawkes Racing, Into Orbit was a red hot favourite for the 1100 metre maiden and gave his rivals no hope when bolting away to win by four and a half lengths.

Into Orbit as a yearlingA $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Luskin Park, Into Orbit comes from the last crop of foals by ill-fated Northern Meteor and is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Bred by Luskin Park and partners, he is the third winner for Rockin Babe, a half-sister by Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) to Group winners Just Dancing and Tahni Girl as well as stakes-winner and sire Hidden Dragon.

Luskin Park sold a Snitzel colt from Rockin Babe for $150,000 at Magic Millions this year and she has another colt by the same sire to follow.

Rockin Babe was covered last spring by Newgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident.
