Pierro Tops First Season Sire Betting

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 25
Luxbet have put together a market for first season sire betting based on the leading sire by Australian prizemoney with Golden Slipper winner Pierro installed a $2 favourite.

In previous years another bookmaker offered betting on leading first season sire by individual Australian winners, but with prizemoney it's really all about getting that one big horse, rather than a string of modest winners. Click here for the market.

Black Caviar's half-brother All Too Hard is a close second in the market with Group I winners Your Song, Delago Deluxe, Ocean Park, Excelebration (IRE) and Americain (USA) to follow.

Pierro (Coolmore) and All Too Hard (Vinery) are head and shoulders above their peers in terms of service fee and opportunity given their status as 'Champions' on the track, but it will be no surprise if Delago Deluxe makes his presence felt.

Another explosive sprinting son of Encosta de Lago, as was ill-fated Northern Meteor, Newhaven Park's Delago Deluxe mad a big impression at the yearling sales with youngsters selling for up to $250,000.

Widden Stud's Your Song is the latest well credentialed son of champion sire Fastnet Rock to come online and given his sons have been Champion First Season Sire for the past two years (Hinchinbrook, Smart Missile), this Gooree Stud homebred has the pedigree for success.
