Thoroughbred Breeders Australia on the important issue of breeders and the
Rules of Racing - This update includes a suggested protest letter you may choose
to send to the Stud Book/Racing Australia.
The season is upon us and many of you are beginning to lodge your mare returns with the Australian Stud Book. By now, we hope you are aware of the new rules introduced by Racing Australia.
In order to submit your mare returns, you must agree to be bound by the rules of racing whether you agree with them or not, or whether you intend to race the foal or not.
We know that the overwhelming majority of you are opposed to these new rules and do not want the breeding industry to be controlled by racing administrators, who do not represent breeders and are not accountable to breeders.
We are calling on you to stand up for our industry and protect its future by saying 'no' to Racing Australia.
This is what we need you to do:
- Sign a Letter of Protest (Breeders-protest-letter-to-ASB-Racing-Australia1.docx) and submit it to the Australian Stud Book via the following email address: jacqueline.stewart@racingaustralia.horse. This letter formally states your opposition to the new rules and reserves your legal rights to challenge them.
- When submitting your letter to the Stud Book, ensure you email a copy to member@tbaus.com so that we can use your signature in our master submission of protest that we are currently putting together. Alternatively, sign a blank piece of paper and email it through.
- If you have previously supplied your signature for TBA correspondence, please contact Cecelia at member@tbaus.com and give your permission for it to be used again in our master submission.
