Hawkes produced an impressive winner for Sepoy on Friday with promising filly
Larapineta breaking her maiden in good style at Geelong.
Back in the autumn, Larapineta was thought good enough to contest the Group II
ATC Magic Night Stakes on debut finishing midfield, just four and a half
lengths away from the winner Calliope and runner-up Omei Sword.
Spelled immediately after, she was fifth when resuming at Gosford on August 11
and went to the post favourite at Geelong in the 1200 metre maiden.
She was always travelling like a winner and strode clear to win by nearly three
lengths.
A $350,000 Magic Millions purchase for Hawkes Racing from the Glenlogan Park
draft, Larapineta is the first winner for stakes-winning Stratum mare
Spectrolite.
She is the 13th winner for Darley's Golden Slipper winner Sepoy in
both hemispheres with six of those winners coming in Australia.
