One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 28
Defcon was not the only winner over the weekend to carry the James Harron Bloodstock colours to victory.

With four seconds from his previous five starts, Snitzel colt Detective was well overdue for a win and achieved the desired outcome at Wyong on Sunday at his first run back from a spell.

Detective as a yearlingSecond to Capitalist in the Listed ATC Breeder Plate last year and second to Seaburge in the Group II VRC Sires Produce Stakes, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt was well fancied for the 1350 metre maiden.

He led throughout and kicked on to win by a head over the favourite Drachenfels, a Street Cry (IRE) colt from the Godolphin stable.

A $220,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Arrowfield draft for James Harron Bloodstock/ Snowden Racing, Detective runs for a syndicate that includes Newgate Farm and partners and is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Bred by Arrowfield and partners, he is the third winner for Group I WATC Railway Stakes winner Covertly, whose current two year old, a full brother to Detective, was bought by Paul Perry at Magic Millions for $170,000.
