Singapore Double for Kaphero

Media Release - Monday August 29

The stud reputation of Kaphero was further enhanced in Singapore when two talented members of the Riverdene Stud stallion's offspring posted a notable double on the latest Sunday card at Kranji.

'Lightly-raced Lim's Knight was an impressive winner of a 1200m contest staged on the turf circuit, before the prolific Super Winner turned in one of the performances of his career to dead-heat in the Kranji Stakes A over 1200m on the polytrack.

KapheroA 4-year-old son of Kaphero having onlyhis sixth career outing, Lim's Knight won in the manner of a horse with bigger and better victories in store. Ridden in the one-one position until turning for home, the strapping bay gelding assumed control of the contest at the top of the straight before going on to win by close to a two lengths margin.

Lim's Knight has now won two of his six starts and run placings in another three. He was produced by Solamina, a six-time winning daughter of Scenic (Ire) also the dam of the Melbourne stakes winner Arbitration (7 wins, inc. MRC Lord Stks-LR).

Super Winner had to share the spoils in the feature race of the day but was responsible for a remarkable effort under the circumstances. Caught off the track in the initial stanza of the contest, the high-class son of Kaphero was virtually stopped in his tracks when making a winning challenge half-way down the home-straight, before the final stages of the race witnessed the 5-year-old regain momentum and charge to the line to snatch a dead-heat verdict from the jaws of defeat.

Super Winner has now won 11 of his 18 starts in Singapore and took his earnings to over S$829,000 — or the equivalent of $808,000 Australian.

The popular sprinter is now set to represent Singapore in the Keeneland Korea Sprint (1200m) at Seoul racecourse on September 11 where he is scheduled to compete in the S$852,000 ($830,000) event against international opposition invited from France, Hong Kong, Japan, Ireland and UAE.
