to the post a rank outsider, So You Think filly So Distinct belied the lack of
interest from punters to score a powerful win in a competitive fillies maiden
at Mornington on Wednesday.
The Robbie Griffiths trained filly failed to flatter on debut, but turned that
form on its head when travelling strongly in fourth position before bursting
through a gap to win by three quarters of a length.
A $60,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Rosemont Stud draft for Griffiths
Racing/ Peter Ford Thoroughbreds, So Distinct holds an entry for the Group I
VRC Oaks so connections will be delighted to have taken a promising step along
that path.
Bred by Rosemont Stud, she is the first foal for Danehill Dancer (IRE) mare
Doubleyou One, a sister to Group I VRC Oaks place-getter Summer Bliss and grand-daughter
of Group I winner Infamy.
A half-brother by Toorak Toff to So Distinct will be offered at the Inglis
Ready2Race Sale next week as Lot 204.
So Distinct is the fifth Australian winner for So You Think since the start of
spring.
