Opening
her account at Vaal in South Africa on Thursday was Australian bred filly Biblical
Susan, the first Southern Hemisphere bred foal of US Group II winner Sharp
Susan (USA), who was sold for $1,050,000 at the 2012 Inglis Australian
Broodmare Sale.
Offered by Tyreel Stud and bought by Badgers Bloodstock on behalf of South African
based Drakenstein Stud, Sharp Susan unfortunately lost her first foal for her
new owners, but the second is three year-old Bernardini (USA) filly Biblical Susan.
Trained by Mike de Kock, Biblical Susan scored by half a length in the fillies
and mares maiden over 1200 metres at her second start.
Already the dam of a stakes-placed horse in North America in Indiano Jones (by
AP Indy), Sharp Susan has a two year-old filly by Street Cry (IRE) also
exported to South Africa, a yearling colt by Exceed and Excel and has produced
a filly foal by Fastnet Rock this spring.
