Juvenile Trial Watch – Sebring Colt Leads Up MM Sale-Topper

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 6
Five juvenile heats at Rosehill on Tuesday produced some interesting winners including two Sebring colts that were both purchased from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Vinland as a yearlingThe Tony McEvoy trained Vinland has already been to the races finishing fifth on debut in the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes last month after settling at the tail of the field, but showed more pace in this 900 metre trial.

He mustered speed quickly for Tye Angland to go through and lead on the fence before kicking away down the running to win by more than three lengths in 53 seconds which was the quickest trial of the day.

A $340,000 Inglis Premier purchase for McEvoy Mitchell Racing from the Blue Gum Farm draft, Vinland is from Group II placed Viking Turf Belle and was the most expensive yearling by his sire sold at that sale.

Chasing him home for second was Snitzel colt Chauffeur, who topped the 2016 Magic Millions Yearling Sale when fetching $1.6 million.

Prepared by Gerald Ryan, Chauffeur has been entered for the juvenile event at Rosehill on Saturday so we won't have to wait long to find out if he has more to offer.

Gold Standard as a yearlingSebring had the next trial winner with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Gold Standard showing plenty of promise in his first public outing.

A big strong colt with a flashy white blaze, he cruised through to lead for Tommy Berry on the fence and kept going strongly to win by more than a length over the much smaller colt Calligraphy (Written Tycoon) running 53.40 seconds.

Gold Standard was a $160,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Eliza Park International draft for Mount Hallowell Stud/ Gai Waterhouse / Julian Blaxland and is from Group III winner Coniston Gem.

A full sister to slick juvenile stakes-winner Cruden Bay, the Chris Waller trained Not a Single Doubt filly From Within showed plenty of natural talent when racing away to an easy three length win at her first outing.

From Within as a yearlingA $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Blue Sky Bloodstock, From Within did everything right for Glyn Schofield. She lengthened nicely when asked to down the running, before throttling down on the line.

Other trial winners were Totten (Exceed and Excel) and We Have Lift Off (Exceed and Excel), click here to see the full results.
