The
China Horse Club colours were carried to victory in the opening maiden at Wyong
on Wednesday by progressive Street Cry (IRE) gelding Amazing Story, a $210,000
Inglis Easter purchase from the Newgate Farm.
A handsome chestnut prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Amazing Story had six
barrier trials before finally going to the races at Canterbury last month to
finish an unlucky third.
Fitted with winkers for this 1200 metre assignment, he raced more tractably for
Kerrin McEvoy and powered away to win by a commanding three lengths.
"Peter and Paul thought he'd taken plenty of improvement from that first run
and we've added the winkers," said stable representative Jackson Beirs.
"He's been a different horse since he was gelded. We'll take him home and let
him go through his classes."
Bred by SF Bloodstock and bought by China Horse Club/ Mick Flanagan, Amazing Story
runs for a syndicate that includes Newgate Farm, China Horse Club, Horse
Ventures (Matthew Sandblom) and Pinecliff Racing (Jonathan Munz).
He is the second winner for US bred Tale of the Cat stakes-winner Amazing Tale
(USA).
Her current yearling, a colt by Newgate Farm's high profile shuttler The Factor
(USA), will be offered at Inglis Classic as Lot 325 by Middlebrook Valley
Lodge.
