Magic in the Blood

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 22
No first season sire with progeny on offer at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale has Magic Millions credentials quite like this one.

UnencumberedA brilliant winner of the 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Unencumbered is the highest stake earning son of the mighty six-time Group I winner Testa Rossa, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic back in 1999.

Speed, precocity, toughness and trainability are what set Testa Rossa and Unencumbered apart from their peers, so it was an easy decision for Three Bridges Thoroughbreds to take on Unencumbered and bring those brilliant speed genes to Victoria.

Well received by breeders, Unencumbered has pleased the Liston family at every step along the way of his stud career to date and now it's time for his offspring to hit the market place.

"We are so excited about launching Unencumbered at his spiritual home, the Magic Millions where he stamped himself as elite," said Toby Liston.

"He was a fast, tough speed two year old, which fits perfectly with the Magic Millions profile.

"Fast, colonial and precocious stallions work in Australia, it's as simple as that in our opinion."

Not many colts are mature enough mentally and physically to succeed in January at the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but as a sire producing race it speaks for itself.

"Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt were both place getters as well a fantastic list of winners such as Testa Rossa, General Nediym and Snippets to mention a few," Liston said.

"Capitalist winning last year and then following it up brilliantly with a Gold Slipper victory has really taken the race to another level again."

Three Bridges Thoroughbreds will present seven youngsters at Magic Millions, four of which are by Unencumbered, who has eight entries in total for the sale.
