Father and Son Duo Set Early Pace

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 11
Champion sire More Than Ready (USA) and his Golden Slipper winning son Sebring have been setting the pace at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Wednesday as we move through the afternoon with two lots sharing top honours at $600,000.

Musk Creek Farm, who sold Golden Slipper winner Pierro at this sale in 2011, set the early pace when their Sebring colt from Footprint made $600,000 to the bid of Hong Kong based buyer Little Kwok Hing Hung.

A handsome chestnut not unlike Sebring's flagbearer Criterion, the star colt is the second foal of Footprint, a former Darley mare by Redoute's Choice from the good producer Step, who has left Group II winner Marching and stakes-winner Gait.

Footprint was bought by Musk Creek from a Darley reduction in 2013 for $110,000 and had a colt by I Am Invincible last year and was then covered by Pride of Dubai.

More Than Ready chimed in with a gorgeous $600,000 filly from US Group III winner Heart Ashley (USA) consigned by Kia Ora Stud and bought by Vinery.

The first three foals from Heart Ashley are all by Fastnet Rock, so More Than Ready is a change of pace that may pay dividends.

The sale continues.
