MM Sire Averages – Day One

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 11
Darley heavy hitter Exceed and Excel was the leading sire by average at Magic Millions last year ($364,545) and is heading the list after the first 240 lots were offered at the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

Exceed and Excel had four yearlings average $390,000, his top seller a colt from stakes-winner Girl Hussler that made $500,000 for Segenhoe Stud when snapped up by Jadeskye Racing/ Gerald Ryan.

Segenhoe Stud sold the top priced filly for Exceed and Excel at this sale last year, a filly from Set for Fame that made $775,000 and will run in the MM 2YO Classic this Saturday as Madeenaty.

Arrowfield stud's Not a Single Doubt is next on the list and is interestingly outperforming his more high profile barn mates Snitzel and Redoute's Choice with 10 yearlings averaging $311,500.

Aquis Farm sold his top seller, a colt from Golden Edict (USA) that made $525,000 to the bid of China Horse Club / Newgate/ Winstar.

With the $900,000 session topping colt from Miss Finland highlighting his day it was no surprise to see Arrowfield Stud's Dundeel doing best of the first season sires with six yearlings averaging $291,667.
