$1.3 Million colt for Redoute’s Choice

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 13
Turning 21 this year, Arrowfield Stud's stalwart sire Redoute's Choice showed he still has what it takes in the sale ring at Magic Millions when weighing in with a $1,3 million colt on Friday afternoon that was snaffled by James Harron Bloodstock.

Redoute's Choice colt from Ballet BlueBred and offered for sale by Arrowfield Stud, the stunning bay is the third foal of unraced Stravinsky (USA) mare Ballet Blue, a half-sister to Group II winner The Heavyweight and two other stakes-winners.

"He was one of our favourite horses in the whole sale and of course Redoute's Choice needs no introduction," James Harron told Sky Racing.

"We are in the business of trying to create stallions and he fits exactly what we are doing.

"He will wear the James Harron Bloodstock colours and be trained by Peter and Paul Snowden."

James Harron has enjoyed a good deal of success in his stated goal of trying to create stallions having bought Group I winning colts Foxwedge and Wandjina for his long-time client Mrs Belinda Bateman and her late husband Dr Edmund Bateman.

James HarronFoxwedge, bought for $925,000 in 2010, is now pressing for the lead in in the Australian Second Season Sires List, while Wandjina, bought for $1million in 2013, will have his first yearlings at the sales next year.

Both horses stand at Newgate Farm, which is also home to James Harrron's most recent stallion success story Capitalist.

Bought at Magic Millions in 2015 for $165,000, Capitalist won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic last year as well as the Golden Slipper and finished the season as Champion 2YO.

He will follow in the footsteps of Foxwedge and Wandjina later this year having already retired.
