Classic Uniform reminded breeders, owners and trainers alike of Al Maher's proven ability to sire black-type winning progeny when leading from start-to-finish to land the Listed ATC Parramatta Cup (1900m).
A progressive 4-year-old son of the stalwart Emirates Park stallion, Classic Uniform went in to the stakes event a four-time winner over 1350-1600m tackling 1900m and Listed Race company for the first time in his career. What unfolded was a display of the breed's well-known tenacity, the Gary Moore-trained charge making the running from the outset before coming under severe pressure halfway down the home straight, and then rallying back over the closing stages to score a narrow victory.
Bred and sold by Emirates Park at the 2014 Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $170,000, Classic Uniform (pictured Steve Hart) became the 31st individual stakes winner for Al Maher and the third to be produced by a daughter of Golden Slipper winner and multiple champion sire Canny Lad (by Bletchingly, by Biscay). Group 3 winner Felicienne and Listed Race winner Epic Dragon were bred in similar fashion, as was the stallion's Group 2 winner Oasis Bloom — a maternal grand-daughter of Golden Slipper winner and multiple champion sire Marscay (by Biscay).
