Cox
Plate hero Ocean Park posted his first Australian winner, and in fact first
winner anywhere, on Saturday at Morphettville with a debut victory for
Beerzatbernz.
Trained by Tony McEvoy, the filly came from off the pace to score a neck win in
the 1050 metre juvenile event.
Beerzatbernz was a $40,000 Inglis Premier purchase for McEvoy Mitchell Racing
from the Blandford Park draft and is the first winner for Flying Spur mare
Flying Rosa, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to stakes-winner Rosa's Spur and
daughter of stakes-winner Rosarino.
The New Zealand Horse of the Year in 2012/2013, Ocean Park reeled off four
consecutive Group I wins in the spring of 2012 culminating in his Cox Plate
triumph.
By champion New Zealand sire Thorn Park from a daughter of champion sire Zabeel,
Ocean Park stands at Waikato Stud and was priced at $30,000 last year.
