Last
seen chasing Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign home in the $500,000 Inglis
Nursery back in December, Sebring filly Sheikha was a hot favourite at Warwick
Farm on Wednesday and duly saluted.
Spelled after finishing eighth in the Inglis Nursery, the Gai Waterhouse and
Adrian Bott trained Sheikha was well tuned with two recent trial wins under her
belt and scored a very comfortable length and a quarter win in the 1100 metre
maiden.
She cruised along for Josh Parr and won with something in hand to beat Your
Song filly Devolving, who ran an encouraging race on debut.
"She's grown and furnished into a lovely filly, so we'll look at a race like
the Percy Sykes (Group II on April 8) with her," said Adrian Bott.
Sheikha runs in the familiar colours of Emirates Park and was bought by them for
$350,000 from the Widden Stud draft at Inglis Easter last year.
Bred by Widden in partnership, she is the first winner for Group III winner
Solar Charged, whose current yearling, a filly by Zoustar, was sold by Widden
at Magic Millions for $300,000 to Aquis/McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Blue Sky Bstock.
Solar
Charged has a weanling filly to follow by Zoustar and is now back in foal to
Sheikha’s sire Sebring, who had a great day at the track also siring winners at
Sandown (Motown Lil) and Warwick Farm (Wu Gok), both of them also sold by
Widden.
