Star Mare for Sale - Fanfreluche Fans Take Note

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 24
Charismatic filly Tulip has been a newsmaker since the day she was born – a stunning foal from the first crop of superstar colt Pierro, his first winner and then his first stakes-winner – is it any wonder her close relations are all now in hot demand.

Tulip wins the Group III Magic NightThe Hayes/ Dabernig trained Tulip has put her sire Pierro at the top of the Australian First Season Sires list with a series of brilliant performances.

Fourth in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, then a runaway winner of the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes, she was last seen finishing third in the Group I ATC Golden Slipper, a race won by her sire in 2012.

Tough and resilient like her famous sire, Tulip will be given the chance for further success with the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) on April 1 her next assignment.

A $400,000 yearling purchase, Tulip has already won that back and more banking $538,375 for connections.

It's been well documented that the full brother to Tulip promises to be a highlight horse at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, but less well known is the fact her three year-old half-sister She's a Vamp will be offered in the select Chairman's Sale on April 7 as Lot 80 by Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds and is pictured below.

There are few female families in the world as productive as that of Fanfreluche and She's a Vamp offers a very attractive way into something genuinely special.

I am a Star - Grant CourtneyA full sister to Group III winner Sacred Eye and half-sister to Tulip, She's a Vamp is from the Group II winner Musidora, a grand-daughter of Fanfreluche's stakes-winning daughter Grand Luxe.

The Australian breeding industry owes quite a bit to Grand Luxe, whose descendants include not one but two champion Australian sires in Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur, not to mention this season's Group I winning three year-old filly I Am A Star.

Rising star sprinter Russian Revolution is the latest Group I winner to emerge from this global dynasty claiming Fanfreluche as his fourth dam as does Tulip and She's a Vamp.

Champion Sire - LonhroRising four, She's a Vamp has a long career at stud ahead of her and is by outstanding sire High Chaparral (IRE), whose daughters have already produced Group I winners Suavito and The Wow Signal.

An early service to champion sire Lonhro should put her on the path to early success with the resulting foal being a three-quarter sibling-in-blood to Tulip.

The Champion Australian Sire in 2010/2011, Lonhro has ticked every box and with a growing number of Group I winning sons at stud headed by Pierro will remain a powerful influence for years to come.

His stock have been popular this year selling for up to $440,000 with a 100% clearance and at the recent Inglis Premier Yearling Sale he was the leading sire by average with four youngsters averaging $300,000.

Comparatively few yearlings by Lonhro find their way to the sale ring given the heavy support he receives from Darley, who sent some of their very best mares to him in 2016.

Among the Darley stars covered by Lonhro last year were Forensics, Guelph, Mnemosyne, Anamato, Ottoman, Anise and Miss Right Note (GB), the dam of Pierro and Ambience.

A royally bred mare such as She's a Vamp in foal to Lonhro is a package guaranteed to make widespread appeal in an increasingly discerning market.
