Domesday filly Oregon’s Day scored the biggest win of her career to date when
powering clear to win the Group III MVRC Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on
Friday night.
A stakes-winner last season at two, the Mick Price trained Oregon’s Day had
been Group placed twice since resuming from a spell, but rose to a new level
for this 1600 metre assignment.
She settled back in the field for Mark Zahra and worked her way between runners
to dash away and win by two and a quarter lengths taking her overall record to
two wins and three placings from seven starts with prizemoney topping $227,000.
"She travelled so well and won very easy in the end,” said Mark Zahra.
Mick Price now has a lovely filly on his hands with plenty of options for the
future.
"It was good to see her run the mile right out,” Price said.
"She’s a beautiful filly. There are a couple of races up in Sydney we have in
mind, but we’ll just see how she pulls up.”
Oregon’s Dream was retained to race by her breeders, who also raced her dam
Oregon Seal, a Group III winner up to 2100 metres.
Retired from stud duties last year, Oregon Seal has produced eight winners from
eight foals to race with Oregon’s Day her third stakes-winner joining Group II
winner Talent Show and stakes-winner Oregon Spirit.
Oregon’s Day is one of 12 stakes-winners for Aquis Farm’s Domesday, who covered
104 mares last year in his first season in Queensland.
