Rosemont rolls into the Easter Yearling Sale on a winning streak

Breednet - Sunday April 2
It's been a red-letter weekend for Rosemont Stud after the emerging Victorian nursery landed the feature AgVantage UAV VOBIS Gold Rush at Bendigo on Saturday when Speed Street (Al Maher) lead all the way to land the $137,500 first prize at Bendigo whilst Rosemont's resident stallion Starcraft notched up his 17thstakes winner when Property took out the Group 3 ATC Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick.

Speed Street, who races in Rosemont's familiar red silks with the white 'gatecrasher' logo, jumped well and held out the last-finishing Henry Dwyer-trained Je Suis Tycoon (Written Tycoon) by a head to become the fifth winner for her dam Street Princess who also produced the classy multiple metropolitan-winning stakes placed Kaiser Sun (Danerich).

The successes of Speed Street and Property follow the recent Group 1 successes by the Rosemont-bred Montoya's Secret (High Chaparral) in the Group 1 Vinery Stales on March 25th and Hey Doc's victory in the Australian Guineas on March 4th - Hey Doc being consigned by Rosemont as Lot 686 in the 2015 Melbourne Premier Yearling sale.

This week, Rosemont Stud will offer eight lots in the final Easter Yearling Sale at Newmarket – a draft that is headlined by Lot 74, the Redoute's Choice-Catshaan colt being a full brother to two Oaks winners Abbey Marie and Absolutely.

"He's a striking individual, really well put together with a great presence about him and very correct" comments former champion trainer Peter Moody who has joined the Rosemont team since retiring from training.

Lot 90 is a colt by Starspangledbanner from the El Moxie mare Cumulonimbus who is a full sister to the multiple Hong Kong stakes winner Joyful Winner. The colt descends from a quality European family including English Oaks winner Unite.

A "well grown colt, nice and correct from a young mare who's got it all in front of her" enthuses Moody.,

Lot 169 is a colt by dual champion New Zealand sire Savabeel from the multiple stakes-winning Trempolino mare Grantsville – a half sister to Group 1 winner Girolamo and two other European Group Two winners.

Moody comments "typical of the Savabeels – nice, tidy and well put together" His half brother Futura is stakes placed in Hong Kong

Lot 171 is another colt by Redoute's Choice. He's the second foal out of a Nijinsky granddaughter Green Tune- a half sister to Group 1 winner Morandi with many European Group winners.

Lot 261 is an August-foaled colt by sire of the moment Snitzel from the Forestry mare Nobody Gets who is a half sister to Musidora - Group 3 winner of the VRC Vanity Stakes and dam of recent Golden Slipper placegetter Tulip. It's the immediate family of Shane Nicholl's dual Group 1-winning mare I Am A Star and the champion sires Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur.

Moody: "Good-sized body with a big overstep, well grow with an excellent action"

Lot 322 is a bay colt by Fastnet Rock from the outstanding producer Runaway Jessie – herself a half sister to Group 3 winner All Courage. At stud, Runaway Jessie has produced two Group winners in Eloping and Of The Brave as well as the city-winning Group 2 placegetter Jessie's Girl.

Moody: "he's a strong running type of Fastnet Rock – a big powerful looking bloke, looks like he'll get up and running"

Lot 332 is an Exceed and Excel filly – interestingly inbred to Danzig and Northern Dancer on both sides of her pedigree. Her dam Sean Baile Mor is a Cape Cross Group 2-placed mare from the family of English Oaks placegetter Relish The Thought.
Moody: "very powerful, looks like a real runner – just everything you want to see"

Lot 437 is a bay filly by Starspangledbanner from the Zabeel mare Mannya. This August filly descends from a a superb Group 1-winning family including Blue Diamond winner Danelagh.

Danelagh is the dam of Subscribe who raced as Vengeance Of Rain in Hong Kong where he was crowned Horse Of The Year in 2006-07 on the back of his two Group One victories - the Hong Kong Cup and the Nad Al Sheba Dubai Sheema Classic, and also dam of his full sister Dizelle – an Australian Oaks winner.

Moody: "a tidy, correct filly that has a lovely frame and should with a little time develop into a lovely horse"

Moody will be on-hand with the Rosemont team at Newmarket this week to assist prospective purchasers with inspections
