Unique Deal for Rosemont's Starcraft

Media Release - Monday April 3

A unique offer has been announced for the sire of super impressive Kindergarten Stakes winner Property.

Following the purchase of Starcraft (who stood previously under the ownership of Arrowfield), Rosemont Stud are offering breeders the chance to breed to the stallion for free .... with a catch.

Brilliant winner of the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes is Property, by StarcraftMare owners who book swiftly get the chance to "toss the boss" and nominate whether they would prefer to breed a colt or a filly.

"Basically we are saying you will only pay for what you want. If you nominate you want a colt and get a colt you will pay the service fee. But if you get a filly, you don't pay a cent. The same rules apply vice versa too," said Rosemont's Anthony Mithen.

The service fee has been announced at $8800 but there is a 50% chance that no fee will need to be paid.

"I thought it would be a great way to celebrate his Victorian ownership. We all only want to pay for what we want, rather than what you get," Mithen said.

"We will offer limited nominations under this arrangement on a first in best dressed basis. We have gone to those that have supported Starcraft in the past couple of years to give them first opportunity and it has been incredibly well received.

"We are now offering a limited number of nominations under the same deal before breeders will be asked to pay the fee of $8800 regardless of whether they get a colt or filly.

"So I would urge anyone thinking about using the ever-green father of Star Witness, Property and the dozens of other top-liners to contact us immediately," Mithen said.

Starcraft has had a major renaissance of late with spectacular sales results both in Australia and Hong Kong highlighted by a $1.5 million sale at the Hong Kong international sale last year and another $750,000 sale this year.

In Australia his yearlings have sold up to $200,000 this sales season from very few offered and he recently averaged over $90,000 at the Melbourne Premier main session sale.

Barely a weekend goes by without the son of Soviet Star getting a winner in Hong Kong with Jin Jin Win, House Of Fun, Blizzard and Eroico emerging as stars of the Asian powerhouse.
