Marvelous March for Onemorenomore

Media Release - Friday April 7

It was yet another great month for Ridgeview Park Stud's Onemorenomore, the in-form stallion represented by 11 smart winners whilst his progeny lined up in black type races on seven occasions with One More Honey looking a particuarly exciting prospect.

On the back of her dominant Gr.2 Sweet Embrace Stakes victory, the John Thompson trained bay took her place in the Gr.1 Sires Produce Stakes in demanding conditions at Randwick last Saturday.

OnemorenomoreFrom an awkward gate One More Honey settled well back, held up at the 700m and not getting clear until 300m to go - at that stage just too far off them. But she was strong to the line with jockey Jay Ford noting that "she closed off really well - and I am looking forward to seeing her get up to the mile."

Which is the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick on Easter Saturday.

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, Speed Hero impressed with a barnstorming victory at Kembla Grange, settling at the rear from an outside gate, swinging widest turning and swamping his rivals and racing away to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

On the same day in Macau Californiatreasure (a two times trial winner in Sydney) recorded his fourth success from 14 starts whilst the night before at Cranbourne Ashleigh Rae broke her maiden in impressive style.

Appreciating the addition of blinkers, the Ellerton & Zahra trained three-year-old was having only her third start, showing good pace and fighting hard to the line.

Onemorenomore had two runners that day, the consistent None Left finishing off gamely for a Wangaratta second under the steadier of 61.5 kg. A few weeks previously the five-year-old - who doesn't know how to run a bad race - had won in easy fashion at Swan Hill.

She was the first of Onemorenomore's winners for the month that day and the reliable stallion followed that success up with a win by Morendi at Doomben.

So impressive was the Darren Graham trained four-year-old saluting by three lengths over 2200m that a Queensland winter carnival campaign has been earmarked for him.

On the back up from a close up fourth the previous Saturday, Morendi got back, warming up turning and pouncing on his rivals at the 200m.

It was win number six from just 23 starts for Morendi who has been successful at three of his last five outings.

It was a metropolitan double that Saturday for Onemorenomore with his daughter Atlantis Bar, who races in the blue and white colours of her breeder Gerry Harvey, saluting at her Morphettville debut.

Wide early, she began to chase the leaders from the 250m and from the 100m got the upper hand.

Sha Tin raced the next day and Bold Stitch was in winning form over 1400m, settling just off the pace and charging late for Sam Clipperton, putting 1 1/4 lengths on his rivals.

"I thought he was pretty good in the final stages," Clipperton reported, "his last 100m was the best part of his race."

Meanwhile back in Australia Maryore was a strong winner of a $150,000 Provincial Championship heat at Goulburn, at just his second run back from a spell finishing off strongly from well back.

"She is a little bit underestimated," jockey Tim Clark said of the five times winner from just 16 starts with trainer Philip Courtney agreeing, adding that "her work had been great."

"We set her for the series and it's good to have plans come off."

Another consistent Onemorenomore is Atouchmore who sat wide at Toowoomba on Saturday March 25, still proving too strong. The three-year-old has finished in the first three all seven starts this time in.

It was a Onemorenomore double that day, Foyle outsprinting his rivals over 1406m at Benalla with a 2 2/4 length victory.

And it was an even bigger win recorded by Something More at Murray Bridge a few days later, the Jon O'Connor trained three-year-old working early from the outside gate but taking over with 200m to go, quickly putting 4.1 lengths on them.

A filly who has shown promise from day one, Something More is already a dual city winner from just ten starts.
