Group 3 For High Chaparral's Top Of My List

Mark Smith - Saturday April 15

A maiden stakes win for the lightly raced High Chaparral (IRE) mare Top Of My List and the newly-formed partnership of Anthony Cummings and son Edward in Saturday's $150,000 Group III Sharp Japan Racing Association Plate (2000m) at Randwick.

The 4yo mare led at every call under Tim Clark to win by three-quarters of a length from Sons Of John (Oratorio) with another three lengths back to the third placed Rudy (Red Dazzler). (photos Steve Hart).

"It's a really big thrill and to do it alongside Dad makes it even more special," Cummings said.

"Her owner Martin Einfeld actually recommended me as a trainer so it's lovely to win for them as well.

"Timmy did a fantastic job.

"We talked about it before the race, she's the kind of mare that just prefers finding her own rhythm in her own way away from the rest of the field. I thought Timmy did a great job."

Clark said he took up the running after Top Of My List raced keenly in the early stages.

"By the time we hit the 1000 metres she really came back underneath me and got some really cheap furlongs and gave herself a really good rest," Clark said.

"When she heard them come up behind her she dragged herself up the rise, kicked strongly and she was full of running to the line."

Bred by Gooree Stud, Top Of My List advances her record to 3 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 8 starts with earnings of $ 189,460 .

She is the third foal and first winner out of Gooree Stud's Hawkesbury Gold Cup Beauty Watch who earned $636,175  from a record of 6 wins and 11 placing from 32 starts.

The daughter of Belong To Me (USA) placed four times at Group I level, the AJC Flight Stakes, STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes, AJC Australian Oaks and STC Queen of the Turf Stakes.

From the family of triple Grade I winner Althea and Grade II Withers Stakes winner Twinning, Beauty Watch died in October 2015.

She has a 2yo filly by High Chaparral (IRE) and a yearling filly by Your Song.

Top Of My List becomes the 96th stakes-winner for the former Coolmore shuttler High Chaparral (IRE).
