Swettenham Stud Announce Fees for 2017

Media Release - Thursday April 20

Swettenham Stud, Victoria's premier thoroughbred nursery is excited to announce their outstanding roster of stallions they will be presenting in 2017.

Appealing to breeders nationally and supporting breeders locally, their handpicked stallion line-up will offer speed and stamina, value and quality, with colonial and international bloodlines.

Adam Sangster, Principal of Swettenham Stud is delighted about the stallions he is presenting to breeders this year.

"We have gathered highly appealing commercial bloodlines, both International and domestic for our breeders, allowing them access to the important four P's; Pedigree, Performance, Presence and Price."

"We are thrilled to stand a sprinter of the calibre and toughness of Rebel Dane, and the preeminent son of Medaglia d'Oro, Mshawish at Swettenham, and it is a real credit to all staff and operations involved at the farm."

Americain

AmericainThe popular Victorian sire, Americain is an outstanding looking individual with proven International bloodlines, by the Champion US Sire Dynaformer, a son of the great Roberto.

"A truly international performer, a elite group winner all the way through his career from the age of two onwards."

"He is an incredibly popular horse within Victoria and his sales results indicate this, having sold up to $175,000 off a $12,500 service fee. His Inglis Premier results were just brilliant, averaging $80,000 across both sessions." Brian Gorman, Swettenham Stud, General Manager.

Americain was a brilliant stayer with an exciting turn of foot. Apart from his tough win in the 2010 Melbourne Cup, he notably had four Group 2 wins, two in the Northern Hemisphere. A victor in the Group 3 Geelong Cup, he ran a gallant 2nd in the Group 1 BMW Stakes over 2400 meters.

Americain's service fee for the 2017 season is $11,000 Inc. GST

Mshawish

Joining the Swettenham stallion roster in 2017, in partnership with Al Shaqab and Taylor Made Farm is the exceptional International galloper Mshawish, the highest earning entire of champion Medaglia d'Oro.

"A dual Group 1 winner, Mshawish is a very exciting horse to introduce to breeders around the country. Without a doubt, he will pass his looks, ability, toughness and consistency onto his progeny. He has the physical presence we all look for when choosing a mating, and being the preeminent son of Medaglia D'Oro just caps it off." Adam Sangster said.

An elite, versatile and soundfive-time Group race winner on multiple surfaces and over distances from 1500m to 1800m, he has defeated over half a dozen Group 1 winners around the globe.

"Mshawish always impressed me with his versatility, high-cruising speed, and neat ability to have an exciting turn of foot, he was top-class on both surfaces." US Trainer Todd Pletcher said.

Mshawish will stand for $16,500 Inc. GST in 2017.

Puissance De Lune

A multiple Group 1 placegetter, Puissance De Lune is the only Group-winning son of European champion Shamardal to stand at stud in Australia.

A top class galloper, Puissance De Lune had a tremendous turn of foot, winning Group races from 1400m to 2600m. He had five placings at Group One level, missing two in head-bobbers, an indication of how competitive and consistent he was at the elite level of Australian racing.

"His first foals are weanlings now and we are excited to see them debut through the sales ring. Puissance De Lune is proving to be highly popular with the breeders and we look forward to him serving another good book of mares off the strength of his foals" Gorman said.

Puissance De Lune's service fee for the 2017 season is $8,800 Inc. GST

Rebel Dane

"The ultimate colonial bred sprinter"

Group 1 winning sprinter, Rebel Dane raced in top-class company throughout his career, with his last 30 starts at Group One or Two level showing his ability, quality, consistency and soundness.

'The opportunity to access a dual Group One-winning sprinter is rare for Victorian breeders, especially the winner of one of our iconic sprint races, the Manikato Stakes. We were keen to get the stallion for Swettenham Stud and Victoria and he will provide Victorian breeders the opportunity to access a sound, high-class sprinter bred on the successful Danehill/More Than Ready cross that will be ideal for VOBIS." Sangster said.

'Rebel Dane has been an incredible horse over the past five years for me competing at an elite level every start. His speed, temperament, and courage were matched by his soundness. I can't wait to be training his progeny," praised trainer Gary Portelli.

Rebel Dane will stand in 2017 for $12,500 Inc. GST

Toronado

ToronadoToronado is the fastest son of outstanding sire and Epsom Derby winner, High Chaparral's (IRE).

A dual group 1 winner of the Sussex Stakes and the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, he placed valiantly second in three other Group 1 races.

With the combination of his blue blood pedigree, his powerful physique and his high-class performances, it is no wonder his first weanlings have been exceptionally well received in Australia. Averaging over $70,000 through the ring at the recent top quality Inglis Broodmare and Weanling sale, he is stamping his progeny as strong, correct and precocious.

"What can't we say about him? - His first weanlings have achieved the highest established freshman stallion average in Sydney and he is serving exceptionally good books of mares. We are hearing comments like "wow, we can't wait to see them as yearlings" constantly coming through, and he will be represented by strong drafts at the upcoming Magic Millions weanling sale and at the Inglis Great Southern Sale in Melbourne." Gorman said.

Toronado will stand in 2017 for $22,000 Inc. GST

Trust In A Gust

A dual Group 1 winner, an impressive individual, and a consistent top class galloper, Trust In A Gust took out the "stallion making" Group 1 Rupert Clarke, before victory at elite level again in the time honoured Toorak Handicap over 1600m.

"I loved this horse's courage: in a tight finish he was the one you wanted to be on. He's sound, tough...the perfect sort of horse that trainers are always looking for." Trainer Darren Weir said.

"Trust served a very good book of mares in his first season. He is Victoria's VOBIS golden boy and he will be paraded again at the VOBIS raceday coming up at Caulfield. An incredibly good looking horse and the more breeders see him the more interest there is in him." Gorman said.

Trust In A Gust won the VOBIS Gold Eureka, VOBIS Gold Star, VOBIS Gold Sprint and the VOBIS Gold Carat - proving he is the ultimate VOBIS stallion.

Trust in A Gust will stand in 2017 for $11,000 Inc. GST
