A
$230,000 Magic Millions purchase for David Ellis from the Newhaven Park draft,
two year-old Exceed and Excel colt Cousteau cruised home an easy winner at
Woodville in New Zealand on Thursday.
Placed at two of his first three starts, the Stephen Autridge and Jamie
Richards trained Cousteau put it all together to race clear and win the 1100
metre maiden by more than two lengths as a short priced favourite.
Cousteau is a half-brother to Group II winner Charlie Boy and is the second
winner from Maritime, a half-sister to Group II winner Quays from Group I
winner Pontal Lass.
Newhaven Park sold the current yearling from Maritime, a Snitzel filly, at Magic
Millions this year to Strawberry Hill Stud for $250,000.
