As
predicted in our Daily Debutants story yesterday, Snitzel appeared to have good
opportunity to add to his tally of two year-old winners on ANZAC Day.
He duly delivered two new juvenile winners with Risen scoring at Gosford and
General Mu at Bathurst to bring his total of two year-old winners this season
to 30, 28 of them in Australia.
30 was his total last year and put him on a level pegging with Lindsay Park's
former champion sire Without Fear (FR), so it would now appear a formality that
he will break that record and then it will be interesting to see just how far
he can go.
Snitzel's success with his two year-olds is coming from a crop of 164 live foals,
so the numbers are well and truly on his side.
Arion show him as having 30 winners from 64 runners so there are potentially
still 100 more horses that could run.
Those 30 winners are headed by seven stakes-winners – Group I colts Invader and
Summer Passage, as well as Teaspoon, Trapeze Artist, Ducimus, Azazel and
Jukebox.
Snitzel stands at Arrowfield Stud this year at the increased fee of $176,000.
