Sheikh
Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum has been plundering the top end of the Inglis
Australian Easter Yearling Sale in recent years and a filly he bought for $1,050,000
in 2014 snared her third victory at Canterbury on Wednesday.
The most expensive filly sold at Newmarket in 2014, four year-old Street Cry
(IRE) mare Maraam hit top form at her third run back from a spell.
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Maraam scored a short head win in the Benchmark
72 event for fillies and mares over 1200 metres.
She now has the overall record of three wins and five placings from 15 starts
with prizemoney nearing $140,000.
Given her pedigree and current good form, Maraam will no doubt be targeting
Black Type races in coming weeks.
Maraam is a half-sister to this season's brilliant Group II winning three
year-old Derryn.
She is from minor winner Munhro, a half-sister by Lonhro to Group III winner
Colour from the True Blonde branch of the Easy Date family that has given us
Golden Slipper winner Forensics.
A stunning individual, Maraam was sold at Inglis Easter by Segenhoe Stud, who
pinhooked her for $280,000 out of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
Her dam Munhro was on-sold at the same sale with Randwick Bloodstock purchasing
her for $385,000 on behalf of Bylong Park Thoroughbreds.
She was covered last spring by Street Cry's dual Group I winner Pride of Dubai,
so will produce a three-quarter sibling to Maraam.
