When
US Group II winner Sharp Susan (USA) was offered at the 2012 Inglis Australian
Broodmare Sale by Tyreel Stud she attracted plenty of global attention with
Badgers Bloodstock securing the prized mare for $1,050,000.
Purchased on behalf of South African based Drakenstein Stud, Sharp Susan has
been at stud in Australia since then, but her offspring have been sent to South
Africa and include two year-old Street Cry (IRE) filly Oh Susanna, who bolted
in at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Second on debut, the Justin Snaith trained filly was favourite for the 1200 metre
juvenile maiden and won by five and a half lengths geared down.
She is the third winner for Sharp Susan, whose first foal Indiano Jones was
Group II placed in the US and whose second, Biblical Susan, is a winner in
South Africa.
The current yearling from Sharp Susan, a colt by Exceed and Excel, was sold at
Inglis Easter this year for $300,000 to Snowden Racing and was consigned by
Coolmore.
Sharp Susan produced a filly by Fastnet Rock last spring and was subsequently
sent to the Northern Hemisphere.
