As
a half-sister to Starspangledbanner and three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group
I winner Amicus, this debut winner by champion sire Fastnet Rock was always
going to be the 'One to Watch' from Pakenham on Thursday.
Prepared by the Hayes / Dabernig partnership, three year-old filly Mousai was
sent out favourite for the 1200 metre maiden.
She tracked the leader for Dwayne Dunn and shot away down the running to win by
three lengths.
"Mission accomplished," Dunn said.
"Her trials had been pretty basic, but I think you can tell why David
[Hayes] brought her here tonight - to get on a good surface, and I think she
appreciated it."
A $700,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Coolmore from the Milburn Creek draft,
Mousai was bred by Makybe and is the ninth winner from star producer Gold
Anthem, who shot to fame as the dam of Starspangledbanner.
The Champion Sprinter in Europe and Australia, Starspangledbanner is on the
Coolmore roster this spring at a fee of $16,500.
Gold Anthem produced a Snitzel colt last spring and is in foal to Not a Single
Doubt.
