Tenth Stakes-Winner for Manhattan Rain

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 6
Set to stand at Blue Gum Farm in Victoria this spring, Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign's sire Manhattan Rain added a new juvenile stakes-winner to his tally at Morphettville on Saturday in Indian Thunder, who has a sibling headed to the 2017 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale next week.

Beaten into second place on protest at Bendigo last month when making his debut, the Darren Weir trained colt Indian Thunder was sent out favourite for the Listed SAJC Queen Adelaide Stakes over 1050 metres.

Manhattan RainHe zoomed home along the inside between horses for Damian Lane and snatched a narrow victory to the great delight of punters.

A $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase for his trainer from the Tyreel Stud draft, Indian Thunder was bred by Wallings Bloodstock and is the second winner for stakes-winning Royal Academy (USA) mare Whisper Bay, a half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Hurtle Myrtle.

From the family of Golden Slipper winner Star Watch, Whisper Bay has a weanling filly by Hinchinbrook and was covered by Teofilo (IRE) last spring.

Her yearling colt by Zoustar will be offered by Yarraman Park at the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale as Lot 198.

Indian Thunder is the tenth stakes-winner for Manhattan Rain, whose fee at Blue Farm has been set at $19,250.
