The
winning run for Foxwedge keeps going with the Danny Williams trained three
year-old Volpe, adding to his burgeoning record with a facile four length
victory at Goulburn on Monday.
A relatively new addition to the Williams stable having transferred from Team
Hawkes earlier this year, Volpe broke the ice for his new trainer at the Wagga
Cup Carnival and kept up the good work with this super easy win.
Sent out favourite for the 1600 metre contest, he carried 60.5 kg to a dominant
victory, his second win from eight starts.
A $190,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Astute
Bloodstock / Sunninghill Park, Volpe is a half-brother to stakes-winner
Impetuous and is the second winner from stakes-placed Rash Promise.
Rash Promise was covered last year by another of the Newgate sires in
Dissident.
Newgate Farm based Foxwedge continues to hold a narrow lead on the Australian
Second Season Sires List by earnings and stands at a fee of $22,000.
