The
most expensive colt by Medaglia D’Oro (USA) sold in Australia in 2015 made a
winning debut at Sha Tin on Sunday for the powerful John Size stable.
Now a gelding, three year-old Zero Hedge was sent out favourite for the 1000
metre dash and surged late to win by a head with Joao Moreira in the saddle.
Zero Hedge was a $550,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Bowness Stud
and was secured by renowned bloodstock agent John Foote.
Bred and offered for sale by Bowness, he is the third winner from unraced
Idriess, a half-sister by Anabaa (USA) to former brilliant sprinting filly
Karuta Queen.
Bowness sold the current yearling from Idriess, a colt by Bullet Train (GB) at
the Magic Millions this year for $75,000. She has a weanling filly by Wandjina
and was covered last year by Sizzling.
Medaglia D’Oro is due back at Darley this spring at a fee of $110,000.
