Tara Madgwick - Monday May 29
Last week we highlighted the importance of an encouraging showing for a young commercial stallion at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, so we thought a look back at the final statistics would be of interest to our readers.

The National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast is the largest and best quality sale of its type in Australia and the results are often meaningful for those looking to evaluate the merits of stallions whose first offspring have been offered and sold here.

The numbers often represent a tiny fraction of a sire's total foal crop, so cannot be taken as a judgement on his stock as a whole, but they nevertheless offer some sort of indication that many broodmare owners will take into consideration when planning their matings for this season.

Darley's Brazen Beau had the biggest service fee and achieved the highest average with four weanlings averaging $201,250 with his top seller a colt from Flute of Bubbly that made $300,000.
Brazen Beau
He only had four weanlings offered and all were sold providing the perfect advertisement for the dual Group I winning son of I Am Invincible, who stands at Darley Victoria.

He has been priced at $44,000 in his first two seasons covering 139 and 122 mares and remains at that fee for 2017.

Newgate Farm's high profile trio Dissident, Wandjina and Deep Field all proved successful and finished in order of their service fee. Click here to read more on their success.

Dissident is priced at $33,000 this year, Wandjina at $27,500 and Deep Field remains at $22,000.

Looking towards the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale this week we see nine mares covered by Brazen Beau, click here to view.

There are 29 covered by Dissident, click here to view, 19 covered by Wandjina, click to view and 31 covered by Deep Field, click to view.
