The
highest priced yearling from the first crop of Golden Slipper winner Pierro is
yet to race, but showed in a jumpout at Caulfield on Tuesday morning that he may
have something serious to offer.
Prepared by Mick Price, Plato has been given plenty of time to mature and
showed good natural talent in his 650 metre jumpout on the inside grass.
Fitted with blinkers, Plato jumped fast for Mark Zahra and went straight to the
front before cruising away down the running to win by a big margin in a
promising display.

A $1.5 million Magic Millions purchase for Coolmore Australia from the Segenhoe
Stud draft, Plato is a half-brother to Group I ATC Golden Slipper winner
Vancouver and Group I winner Juste Moment as well as handy stakes-winner
Captain Coltish.
Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, Plato is the last foal of celebrated producer
Skates, who died in 2015, but has left a considerable legacy as the dam of 10
foals to race all winners.
Plato will be looking to keep her record perfect when he makes his debut in
coming weeks.
Standing at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $49,500, Pierro is the leading
Australian first season sire and chases Group I success this weekend with his
classy colt Pierata to run in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes.
