IT'S barrier 11 for Triple Crown Syndication's Gold Symphony in Queensland's most prestigious Group 1 event of the Winter Carnival, the $1,5 million UBET Stradbroke Handicap, to be held this Saturday at Doomben, with Triple Crown seeking a memorable Group 1 double at the Brisbane following Redzel's emphatic Doomben 10,000 success on May 13.

Gold Symphony - Grant Courtney On a sunny day in Brisbane, Gold Symphony owner Millie Coorey was on hand to deliver the goods, in what looks a useful draw for the dual Group 3 winner.

Favourite Clearly Innocent faces a much sterner test as he drew barrier 20, while three of the emergency entries have drawn beneath Gold Symphony, meaning he will likely end up jumping from barrier 8.

Jim Byrne, who rode Redzel to Doomben 10,000 glory four weeks ago,will link up with Gold Symphony for the race.

The four-year-old tuned up for the feature event by winning a trial at Randwick on June 2, and holds excellent form, having finished third behind the race favourite Clearly Innocent in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes at Scone on May 13, with Gold Symphony receiving a 5kg swing in his favour for the rematch.

Co-trainer Peter Snowden said: "The way the field is with the emergencies drawn under him he comes into barrier 8, which is perfect.

"Horses with good chances have drawn wide while we're right there in the middle. There looks to be some good speed in the race for him to get some cover and the harder they go early the better.

"He holds a good chance from a good gate."

Gold Symphony was purchased for $100,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and has since gone on to win $431,000 prizemoney, including back-to-back wins at Group 3 level in 2015, after success in the Vain Stakes and the HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield.
