The Mick Price-trained Hard Ruler completed a good weekend for Vinery Stud's first season stallion All Too Hard when she broke her maiden over 1617 metres at Sale on Sunday.
Damian Oliver gave the Champion Thoroughbreds colour-bearer the run of the race, third on the fence, but became locked in as the five runners bunched up on the home turn.
Disappointed for an inside run, Oliver switched the filly off heels into clear running.
Hard Ruler didn't shirk her task, hitting the front close to the finish and holding the fast finishing debutant Reality Show (High Chaparral) by a half-head. Leicester Rocket (Stryker) was three-quarter of a length back in third.
"It was a bit tricky, she wasn't making the turn that well, it's probably not where you want to be in a small field," Oliver told Racing.com.
"Barrier one didn't help us there.
"She was in an awkward spot on the turn but was good enough to get out of it and get over the top of them.
"She's still learning and is only a lightly framed filly but to win over a mile at her second start (this prep) is a good effort and she can only improve."
A $140,000 purchase by M G Price Racing / Champion Thoroughbreds at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Hard Ruler is the third foal of the stakes-placed More Than Ready mare Legislature a sister to the Group I AJC Champagne Stakes winner Carry On Cutie.
Herself a $400,000 yearling, Legislature has a weanling colt by All Too Hard and was bred back to Headwater last spring.
Hard Ruler (pictured as a yearling) becomes the seventh winner for All Too Hard and the second on the weekend following the impressive Éclair Sunshine at Morphettville on Saturday.
The 4-time Group I winning half-brother to Black Caviar will stand for a fee of $44,000 at Vinery Stud this spring.
